4 1/2 months

It's been too long since I updated my blog so here I am. We have been BUSY lately. We just got back from visiting everyone in NC for almost 3 weeks. Asher got to meet all of our family and friends and he loved it. Everyone loved him too of course. He is over 16lbs now and over 25 inches long. He sleeps through the night, for the most part and he is starting to be soooo much more fun. He can play with lots of toys and he giggles and "talks". He sleeps in his big boy bed and he FINALLY loves his carseat. Which makes my life a little easier.
We started giving him rice cereal and carrots and sweet potatoes. That's been interesting. And I'm looking forward to started more solids. I can't believe he's already getting so big and independent. Well I will try to update more often. Hope everyone is doing well!!

3 months!

Well the little stinker is over three months old now. He is still growing like a weed. He is smiling so much and starting to giggle more. He can sit up on the couch or against something without falling over now. And he has learned how to stick his thumb in his mouth. He can hold onto toys and has a favorite stuffed animal already. He tries to eat it but hey, it keeps him happy! Haha.
He is starting to sleep better. We started sleep training him a week ago and he is now sleeping good from 9-12 then he eats and he sleeps from 12:30 to 5:30 or 6. And get this....he is now sleeping in his CRIB! He took the move to his crib like a champ. Its just the sleeping, not knowing how to fall asleep, and stay asleep on his own that we are battling now. He is so quirky.
His grandma and grandpa Garrett were here this weekend. They got in a great visit and were excited to see the lil guy! We'll be in NC in a few weeks so we'll be seeing the whole family a lot. We can't wait for everyone to meet him.
I can't believe he's almost 4 months old! Ahhhh he's gonna be crawling and getting into everything before we know it.
I'll update again soon!

Overdue Update

SORRY! I've been terrible at updating. Just shows how busy my son is keeping me! Haha. Asher is almost 3 months old. I can't believe it! He is getting so big. We are guessing he weighs around 15lbs by now. He is so cute and precious. We can't stop staring at him.
He has been quite a handful though. He has reflux AND colic. Makes for some long days for mommy. But it's slowly getting better. And we've learned how to deal and get through the days one at a time. I hate it because I can tell he is in so much pain sometimes but there is nothing we can do about it. The pediatrician said he'll grow out of it by 4 months. So hopefully he'll be a happy, healthy perfect baby by October!

He is sleeping about 4 hours at a time at night. Sometimes less. I think his reflux bothers him and wakes him up a lot. He spits up all over himself and gets upset. So that's a work in progress. Luckily Matt lets me snooze for a couple of hours every other day or so. A two hour nap makes such a big difference!
We are making a big trip in October. Right after Asher's 4 month appointment, we are driving to NC. Asher and I are staying for 3 weeks! And Matt will be back and forth for work. We are so excited to see family and friends who haven't been able to make it to Texas yet. I can't wait for everyone to meet the lil guy. He'll be so much bigger by then. And I'm sure more of his personality will be out.

Speaking of personality. I'm afraid he's taking after his mom and has a slight temper :) but its cute. And he is so quirky. Things have to be JUST RIGHT for him. Lets see. He is starting to react to his toys and he's trying to reach for them. And he LOVES the TV. It's terrible that he already watches it but he really does love it. Baby Einstein is on a lot. He's in awe of that DVD. And he likes sports. Football, baseball and of course racing. I guess the bright colors catch his attention. He likes looking in mirrors. And he LOVES the bathtub. He gets to kicking and can't seem to stop and then gets overwhelmed. It's so funny. He's a mess.

Ok enjoy pictures! I'll TRY to update more often. Just remember, I have a high maintenance baby! Haha.

7.5 weeks

Well, Asher now weighs 12lbs 5oz. He's wearing 3 month size clothes already. Haha. He is doing great and finally eating every 3 hours instead of every 2. Still battling an acid reflux issue and not sleeping at night too well. But he is a happy baby. Really starting to smile alot more. He finally got to meet his Uncle Justin and his great grandmother Martha. He was good for them and of course they loved him!! My mom has been here for 10 days. I'm sad she's leaving tomorrow :( but she'll be back soon. She has been helping me a lot. She has come over and watched Asher so I can take a nap almost every day. We're really starting to get on a better bedtime routine. I'd read lots of books. So hopefully something will work soon. I'd be okay with just getting 3-4 hours of sleeping straight soon! Asher isn't a good napper. I think that's part of the problem for nighttime sleep. But he's a smart boy. I know he'll learn soon!!
Today my dad is racing in Indy. So Asher is excited about watching his grandpa Tex on TV!!!
I'll update again soon....

4-5 weeks

We are all doing great. Asher is still eating like a champ. We're trying to restrict his feedings a little because of a spit up problem. He eats too much, too fast. He keeps getting bigger! haha. I don't know how much we weighs now. We go back to the doctor for his 2 month appointment in a few weeks. He is starting to smile at us. Especially in the mornings. He has slept for 3 1/2 hours straight some nights but still pretty much sticks to a 2 hour schedule. Hopefully this will get better. He has enough meat on his bones to go longer. But he thinks hes starving after two hours. It's a work in progress ;) Tuesday will be 6 weeks!!! I go to my doctor to hopefully get cleared to start working out again.
Asher didn't like his car seat very much at first. But we took a long road trip yesterday and today and he has gotten much better. He doesn't like being confined to a space AT ALL. He is very active. Which I knew when I was pregnant with him. He is very squirmy and doesn't really like being messed with. He is so funny. Very quirky baby. If he is upset and we can't seem to calm him down, we turn on the bathroom fan or the sink and he stops crying immediately. The consistent sound soothes him. I guess it reminds him of the womb.
Lily and Kaylie really love him now. Lily likes to lay wherever hes laying. They are pretty sweet!
Ill update soon ;)

10 pounds!

Asher is an eating machine. He has gained 1 1/2 pounds in 10 days. The doc said he's going through a major growth spurt. That means mom isn't sleeping much! But he is doing great and is a wonderful, sweet baby. The eating has slowed a little and should get back to normal. Atleast until his next growth spurt at 6 weeks. He has officially grown out of newborn diapers but can still wear newborn onesies. Although its so hot here he gets to be naked baby a lot. The high is 102 today!!! Whew. I'll keep updating. Have a good weekend!

15 days old...

I can't believe Asher is already over two weeks old. He is a such a sweet baby and we've had a good time adjusting to life with him. He weighs 8lbs 5oz now and is 21 inches long. He LOVES to eat. He would eat all day if I let him. Or if I could provide that much for him :) He is very cuddly and makes some pretty sweet noises while he sleeps. I have almost fully recovered. I definitely feel closer to being normal everyday. Except for the whole lack of sleep thing ;) We're still working on a schedule. I'll update again soon! Hope you enjoyed the pics!

Birth Story!!

At 8:00AM on that Tuesday morning I woke up feeling crampy but hadn't noticed any contractions. I got up and went to the restroom. That's when I noticed that apparently my water had broken. I didn't feel a gush or anything. Just noticed my panties were soaked. I laid back down but about 10 minutes later the contractions started coming. This was all happening in the middle of a bad thunderstorm which is what I think caused me to go into labor. I told my husband it was happening and we both took quick showers and headed to the hospital. The contractions were every 2-3 mins, lasting 30 secs. We called the doc (Dr. Neville) on our way and she told us to come to her office first. The contractions started getting more intense and closer together but only lasted about 30-45 seconds. Dr. Neville checked me and I was 3cm dilated and she could see the baby's hair. We were taken straight up to L&D. By this time it was VERY painful. The contractions just kept getting worse. It had been about 2 hours so I finally got an epidural. It was immediate relief but I was definitely numb and couldn't move. I was checked again after the epidural and was 5cm, 100% effaced. I then fell asleep and relaxed a lot. I was checked again a little before 1PM and was 7cm. Still wasn't feeling pain so I continued to sleep/relax. Another couple of hours later the nurse checked me and the baby's head was "right there". She called Dr. Neville and everyone rushed into the room to get ready. I felt no pressure, no pain, nothing. I do wish I wouldve felt SOMETHING just to be aware of my body and to know what was going on. Once everything was ready they told me to push. And 3 pushes later, Asher was here. The only thing I felt was instant "skinny-ness". Haha! It felt like I had lost 100lbs. It was a 7 hour labor and only 3 pushes so I feel blessed and lucky. I have recovered nicely too. I'm one of those women everyone hates....already wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes. It’s painful when you uterus contracts back to its normal size after delivery. I took Vicodin for a few days to relieve that pain. But other than that, I’ve recovered nicely. I feel very fortunate and happy to have had such a great delivery.

Having Asher is so amazing. He is the sweetest little boy and I love cuddling with him so much. Matt and I both never imagined loving anything this much. It has brought us closer together and has given us a new meaning to life. Being able to have children is such a blessing. All the pain and months of anxiety during pregnancy waiting for his arrival was totally worth it. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. He is just precious and amazing.

Asher is ONE WEEK OLD!!!

Asher is one week old already. And he is growing fast and changing everyday. He weighed 7lbs 13oz today! He's gained 5oz in a week which is great. Most newborns lose weight and may not get back to their birth weight for two weeks. So this just says that Asher and I are both doing great with nursing! He is perfect and his doctor is very proud of us. He sleeps pretty good so I;m not quite exhausted yet! We are soooo happy to have a perfect, growing, healthy baby boy!!

Full term!

I'm officially 37 weeks which means the baby can come any day and he'll be considered full-term! I can't believe we only have three weeks until the due date. Everything is going great. We are just waiting patiently. The baby is estimated to weigh 6 pounds right now. The doctor says he'll be a little baby. I'm VERY thankful for that. Hah! We are getting more and more excited and are counting down the days. I'd be totally okay with it if he came a little early. But it's all up to him. We'll just have to see what he wants to do!!!

My sweet neighbors through me a luncheon/shower this past weekend. My mom was in town so she got to join us. It was a lot of fun. We are so blessed to have so many great friends and neighbors out here in Texas!! And tonight is our last childbirth class. Matt is excited because we're going on a field trip to Labor and Delivery at the hospital. We've actually enjoyed the class. Our teacher is hilarious. We've both learned alot. This being the last class just means we're getting even closer to D-Day!!! Or B-day!!!

Speaking of birthdays. There's a lot coming up. Ann, Tara, Adam (my brother in law), my mom, ME!!!! (and Baby G hopefully), my grandmother and aunt! Lots of Gemini's in my life!!

I'll update again next week. Ya'll have a good week!!!

36 weeks. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommie's and soon-to-be mommie's out there!!!

I'm not officially a mom yet but I definitely feel like one. In 4 weeks I'll be a mother and I absolutely can't wait. We are doing great and resting a lot. My back is still hurting pretty bad and I'm still not sleeping very good. But it'll all be worth it. We have everything ready and are just waiting for time to pass. This week, I start going to the doctor every week to check for progress. Although I want him to be here ASAP, I do want him to come when he's ready and healthy. We have no way of knowing exactly when he'll be here but as of now it looks like he'll be my 26th birthday present on June 8! Matt and I have been going to the gym again and I swam laps one day. Swimming took some getting used to and its hard for me to work out without working too hard or burning too many calories. I don't want to over-do it because of my back pain.

My mom is coming into town on Thursday to move into their new apartment here in Ft. Worth. I'm excited to see her and still can't believe they got a place here. Hah. But I'll enjoy them being here and am happy I'll have some help this summer!

I don't have any pictures or anything. But just imagine me with a watermelon in my belly. That's how I feel!! Hah!

34 weeks and 5 days

Growing, growing, growing. Baby G is around 5 1/2 pounds now and Momma G feels like she's 350 pounds. But all is well. Just counting down the days. He is starting to drop which is making it easier for me to breathe. His movements aren't quite as violent as they had been because of his lack of space. He has hiccups atleast twice a day and he still hates it when its quiet. I sleep about 3 or 4 hours at a time. And my back seems to be getting better. That's probably because I've stayed off my feet as much as possible. I feel like I'm in the first trimester again with the "morning sickness" and heartburn returning. But luckily I know what to do to help that out. June 8 is still the due date. But as we all know, its really up to Baby G. The nursery is complete other than minor details. And we are getting ready to start stocking up on diapers. Matt got the car seat and stroller put together. And we have the bassinett in our bedroom waiting for the big arrival. Lily doesn't know what she has coming. But hopefully she'll adapt to the new baby pretty well.
Less than 6 weeks to go and the excitement is really getting to us! We'll update again soon :)

32 weeks

8 weeks to go!!! Woo hoo! I'm ready. I'm ready to feel comfortable again. The baby is in my ribs so bad right now that I feel like I can't take a deep breath. Not to mention the rib kicks. He loves kicking! Everything else is going perfectly. I feel great but I'm starting to go through the exhaustion stage again. I've done a lot of traveling lately so the past few weeks have gone by really fast. I went to NC for a couple of baby showers. Thanks to everyone who came!!! And we went to Austin this past weekend for my dad's motorcycle ride. It was very relaxing. I'm glad I'm going to be home from now on though. We got the nursery put together. It was so much fun. I walk in there a lot and just look around. I can't wait till there's a baby in there! Lily thinks everything is for her. So we let her try everything she out. She's taken a couple of naps in the crib. I think she's ready for her brother to get here!!!! Matt and I are so thankful and ready to meet our son. I'll update again soon!

4d ultrasound, 30 weeks

We had a 4D ultrasound today and it was just amazing. We are still in shock that we got to see his little face. He cooperated pretty well and we got lots of great pictures. He kept trying to stick his hands in his face. And he made some pretty adorable faces. He was absolutely perfect! We are so blessed :)

Healthy heart beat - 162 bpm
Trying to suck his thumb.

Grinning a little bit :)

Sticking his tongue out

29 Weeks

Well, I'm a couple of weeks into the third trimester. It seems like time is dragging along right now. I've heard the last trimester seems like the longest. I guess because that's when your at the uncomfortable stage. My belly is staying round and he is just getting cramped inside. He kicks my ribs and bladder A LOT. The bladder I don't mind, but the ribs hurt. He constantly does flips so I never know what he's gonna get next. But lately, especially at night, he gets up under my ribs and starts practicing soccer moves. My doctor pointed out how my belly isn't growing out or wide, its just staying in a perfect bowling ball so I think that's why it hurts. He has no room to move. My back has been hurting pretty bad. All the added weight its getting to me. I can't twist my upper body at all because of my belly so my back feels really tense and awkward. The ligaments in my belly are stretching like crazy right now too. That feels weird but the pain doesn't last long.

Matt has been awesome with everything. I complain a lot but he does what he can to help. We are both so exciting and anxious. We hope the next 11 weeks start flying by. We'll be busy the next couple of months so I think we'll be preoccupied with a lot and before we know it'll be June 8! I'm going to NC tomorrow for a couple of dinners/showers. Matt is going to hold down the fort with the dogs. Speaking of dogs, Kaylie is doing awesome. She's spending most of her time chasing the rabbit in our backyard. And I think Lily is starting to sense something is going on. She's really started to cling to Matt a lot more. I'm glad because she was too attached to me. I think she knows she has a brother coming.

I'll update again soon!!

Well, Babies R Us isn't being very reliable so we've set up a registry at Target as well. Hopefully it'll update itself and there won't be any problems!

Babies R Us

Babies R Us is not updating our registry when something gets purchased. FRUSTRATING. So please make sure you buy off our registry list or turn in our registry at the store when purchasing. And gift receipts would be great in case we get 12 high chairs or something.

More pictures and 27 week update

My AWESOME friends took some great pictures of me this weekend. The latest were taken by Montgomery Lee. She did such an amazing job. And I'm very very thankful!!

The baby kicked a lot during the photo op. But that's normal. He kicks A LOT. He kicks constantly all night. I read that babies are rocked to sleep when the mother is up and moving around throughout the day. So they are most active at night. I can only sleep on my sides now so I flip over all night trying to get him to calm down. It usually doesn't work. Haha. He is starting to kick so hard and move around so much that its visible. Matt finally got to see my belly move yesterday. It looked like he had his foot against me and stretched as hard as he could. It's weird and amazing at the same time.

Right now my biggest pregnancy complaint is back pain and not much room for my ribs. I know everything is normal and expected but I'm getting to the uncomfortable stage of being pregnant. I've been lucky in that I've only gained weight in my belly. But its really causing strain on my back. And my ribs are just getting cramped. I have 13 weeks to go so I'm sure its only going to get worse!

Oh and I know this is going to be a tease...but I think we've definitely narrowed down possible names. We still aren't announcing it until he's here because we could change our mind, again. But I'm confident we're close to finding the perfect one for our little guy!! He kicks a lot when we say the latest one we've come up with. So I think he likes it.

Well I'll update again soon!!!!!

27 week belly

Here are some more pictures. Thanks to Austin for taking them!!
