10 pounds!

Asher is an eating machine. He has gained 1 1/2 pounds in 10 days. The doc said he's going through a major growth spurt. That means mom isn't sleeping much! But he is doing great and is a wonderful, sweet baby. The eating has slowed a little and should get back to normal. Atleast until his next growth spurt at 6 weeks. He has officially grown out of newborn diapers but can still wear newborn onesies. Although its so hot here he gets to be naked baby a lot. The high is 102 today!!! Whew. I'll keep updating. Have a good weekend!

15 days old...

I can't believe Asher is already over two weeks old. He is a such a sweet baby and we've had a good time adjusting to life with him. He weighs 8lbs 5oz now and is 21 inches long. He LOVES to eat. He would eat all day if I let him. Or if I could provide that much for him :) He is very cuddly and makes some pretty sweet noises while he sleeps. I have almost fully recovered. I definitely feel closer to being normal everyday. Except for the whole lack of sleep thing ;) We're still working on a schedule. I'll update again soon! Hope you enjoyed the pics!

Birth Story!!

At 8:00AM on that Tuesday morning I woke up feeling crampy but hadn't noticed any contractions. I got up and went to the restroom. That's when I noticed that apparently my water had broken. I didn't feel a gush or anything. Just noticed my panties were soaked. I laid back down but about 10 minutes later the contractions started coming. This was all happening in the middle of a bad thunderstorm which is what I think caused me to go into labor. I told my husband it was happening and we both took quick showers and headed to the hospital. The contractions were every 2-3 mins, lasting 30 secs. We called the doc (Dr. Neville) on our way and she told us to come to her office first. The contractions started getting more intense and closer together but only lasted about 30-45 seconds. Dr. Neville checked me and I was 3cm dilated and she could see the baby's hair. We were taken straight up to L&D. By this time it was VERY painful. The contractions just kept getting worse. It had been about 2 hours so I finally got an epidural. It was immediate relief but I was definitely numb and couldn't move. I was checked again after the epidural and was 5cm, 100% effaced. I then fell asleep and relaxed a lot. I was checked again a little before 1PM and was 7cm. Still wasn't feeling pain so I continued to sleep/relax. Another couple of hours later the nurse checked me and the baby's head was "right there". She called Dr. Neville and everyone rushed into the room to get ready. I felt no pressure, no pain, nothing. I do wish I wouldve felt SOMETHING just to be aware of my body and to know what was going on. Once everything was ready they told me to push. And 3 pushes later, Asher was here. The only thing I felt was instant "skinny-ness". Haha! It felt like I had lost 100lbs. It was a 7 hour labor and only 3 pushes so I feel blessed and lucky. I have recovered nicely too. I'm one of those women everyone hates....already wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes. It’s painful when you uterus contracts back to its normal size after delivery. I took Vicodin for a few days to relieve that pain. But other than that, I’ve recovered nicely. I feel very fortunate and happy to have had such a great delivery.

Having Asher is so amazing. He is the sweetest little boy and I love cuddling with him so much. Matt and I both never imagined loving anything this much. It has brought us closer together and has given us a new meaning to life. Being able to have children is such a blessing. All the pain and months of anxiety during pregnancy waiting for his arrival was totally worth it. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. He is just precious and amazing.

Asher is ONE WEEK OLD!!!

Asher is one week old already. And he is growing fast and changing everyday. He weighed 7lbs 13oz today! He's gained 5oz in a week which is great. Most newborns lose weight and may not get back to their birth weight for two weeks. So this just says that Asher and I are both doing great with nursing! He is perfect and his doctor is very proud of us. He sleeps pretty good so I;m not quite exhausted yet! We are soooo happy to have a perfect, growing, healthy baby boy!!
